Should there be a global solar market?
Everyone knows Greece is in economic trouble. That’s the easy part. The hard part is finding solutions, and that’s where Project Helios enters the picture.
Instead of just using EU investments to manage debt, why not use them to help build Greece’s economy, for the betterment of the whole of Europe?
Thus, Greece is seeking about 20 billion euros of investment to make a significant move into solar power, since the since shines down on Greece 300+ days per year. In return, Greece will provide solar electricity to other, less sun-soaked countries, with Germany of particular focus since Germany plans to move away from nuclear power. Consequently, should resources like solar be added to the global energy markets?
Instead of just supplying oil to the world, should countries such as Saudi Arabia also supply solar power?
Is thinking bigger the key to solar power?
Obviously, such ideas almost require a united world, but if the citizens of the world had almost unlimited free energy, would their be so much divisiveness?
Anyway, more questions than answers, but Project Helios seems to demonstrate that when it comes to solar power, maybe it’s time to think bigger, such as beyond national boundaries. For instance, could Mexico be the solar engine of America?
